The film tells about the poor villagers Mankonal, very much dependent on\r\nagriculture. They prefer cultivating for the Zamindar rather than slog for the\r\nupcoming quary. The story revolves round Bhasara, the village chief, his small\r\nfamily including his wife Laxmi, son Shibu and daughters Rangi and Bengi.
\r\nThe village is in the process of electing a new chief and to ensure that he is\r\nelected, the Zamindar offers money to the villagers for their votes. This\r\ntempts Bhasara to adopt Anath, a beggar, who is suffering from tuberculosis,\r\nBhasara promises the beggar that he will get him cured in exchange of his vote\r\nmoney. The drama changes its course when the sheltered beggar shows sign of\r\ndeterioration. While taking him to hospital through the hilly terrain, they get\r\ncaught in a dynamite explosion
