The\r\nfilm is about a young man named Faizal (known as Feyzee), who studies in Switzerland as\r\na chef against his rich father's wishes. As the relation between father and son\r\ndeteriorates, Feyzee is forced to work as a cook in a restaurant at Kozhikode (Calicut)\r\nrun by his grandfather Karim. A strong bond develops between Karim, an\r\nelderly Sufi Muslim, and his educated grandson who\r\neventually decides to work permanently in the restaurant. The film also\r\ndiscusses issues of poverty, underprivilege and tensions between rich and poor\r\nin India. Food and its nuances becomes a central character in the film.

The film was one of the highest\r\ngrossing Malayalam films of 2012 The film was named number-one in the list of\r\n"Top 10 Malayalam films of 2012" compiled by Oneindia.in.\r\nThe film won three National Film Awards: the film won the\r\naward for Best Popular\r\nFilm while Anjali Menon won the award for Best Dialogues and\r\nThilakan got a Special\r\nMention.
